This course is a direct progression route from the one year Skills Link course. It is suitable for students with moderate learning difficulties and/or additional support needs.

All students will also benefit from studying for additional qualifications in both Literacy and Numeracy as part of this course.
INDIVIDUAL LEARNING PLANS
Upon entry to the course, students are assessed and an individual learning plan is built around the students' educational, social and personal needs. The student's enjoyment of the course and their achievement whilst at college are our main aim.
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT
Each student will have a Personal Tutor. Additional support is available to students should they require it, following Confidential Initial Assessment of Additional Support Needs.
Assessment procedure:
This course contains a compulsory Health and Safety element and other Core Units which use Edexcel set assignments. All other units are assessed internally and moderated by Edexcel. Students collect their work in a portfolio.
There are no exams or formal tests during this course.
Qualifications achieved:
Entry Level Certificate in Skills for Working Life plus Adult Literacy/Numeracy.
Progression opportunities:
It is hoped that students will progress from this course into either employment or other college options at GNVQ Foundation or NVQ Level 1. Specialist Careers Advice is available to all students.
Free study and financial support:
Most full-time students do not have to pay for their course. We may also be able to help you with some of the extra costs associated with college, eg travel, childcare, equipment, books etc. In addition, if you have just left school, you may be eligible for an Educational Maintenance Allowance.
