You will also have a personal tutor who will support you during the year and who will advise you on your application to higher education institutions.
The course requires 2 days attendance a week. You are also expected to undertake private study of 10-15 hrs a week in addition to this.
Applicants are expected to have a minimum of a Level 2 qualification, or work or voluntary experience requiring Level 2 organisational or administrative skills. You are also expected to demonstrate academic potential, motivation and commitment through an entry test and interview. For the Social Science route the entry test will consist of a written assessment.
Assessment is by coursework and occasional written examinations.
You can progress on to a range of possible degrees in Sociology, Social Policy, Social Work, Psychology and other subjects in the Social Sciences or Humanities. The course tutor for the Social Science route and our Careers and Higher Education Advisors will give you advice and guidance on this, and on your application to university.
