Sociology - A and AS Levels
What are the main features of this course?
Sociology starts from the assumption that what people do isn't simply the result of what they are like 'inside'. Rather it assumes that groups of people have a big influence on one another. The family you are born into will affect how you behave. Whether or not a country is strongly religious will affect what it is like to live there. Who passes laws and who breaks them are not just matters of chance.
The first year is the AS course. This looks at how we develop in society - our culture and identity. We will focus on the family.
We also look at sociological research skills and try them out in short investigations. The second year focuses on inequality and power, focussing on education.
Hours of Lessons per Week : 4.7
Indicative Group Size : 16
How is the course assessed?
