Course content:
Sociology is the study of individuals in a social setting that includes groups, organisations, cultures and societies. Sociologists study the interrelationships between individuals, organisations, cultures and societies. This course will introduce the subject of Sociology and provide a good basis for further study.
On completion of this course you will be able to:
- Understand key sociological concepts and sociological theories. Understand sociological perspectives:
- The Family
- Education
- Religion
- Crime and Deviance

Course Structure:
Students will participate in individual and small group exercises and discussions. There is some optional reading as well as one piece of written work at the end of the course.

Course resources:
Students will need to bring writing materials (pen & paper)

Assessment:
Short written and oral in-class assignments

Students in receipt of an income-based benefit pay £20 per course per term.
