Course assessment:
There will be one examination for each module. The first and third modules will be examined in January, and the other two will be examined in the summer.

The Sociology department has an extensive website that provides details of all your lessons, handouts and past exam papers.
What will I learn?
Sociology lessons are varied and interesting with many lively classroom discussions. You will watch video material, read articles, do small group work and get involved in whole class discussions about many of the issues we study. Sociology is an interactive subject. The more you join in, the more you will enjoy it. The department has also put lesson notes, quizzes, and advice on the KGV Intranet to help you with your studies.

What Makes a good Sociology student?
Someone who likes to question, who likes debate and different points of view. You do need to enjoy reading. There will be a lot of reading to do.

All the social sciences: Psychology, Health and Social Care, Politics, English Language, Philosophy and Law.
Students intending to work with people, such as in medicine or law enforcement, will also find sociology provides a good background understanding.
