Why study BAHons Software Engineering for Business?
Computers are now an essential part of our lives. We use them at work, to organise our social lives and to play games. They are also fundamental to many systems that keep society running smoothly such as hospitals, public transport, governments and banks.
Software engineering involves building programs so that these computers effectively fulfil their purpose. With more technology jobs available in the UK than qualified computing graduates, job prospects for software engineers have never been better.
Why study our course?
Developed by Tech Industry Gold and top graduate employers, this course is designed to give you the technical and business skills you need when you graduate. You will study how software is built from start to finish, covering all the latest technologies including cloud computing, big data and cyber security. You will learn how businesses manage large projects and develop the professional skills to plan, design and deliver new software on time and within budget. You will also gain the skills to collaborate, negotiate and communicate effectively with colleagues and customers; lead teams and projects; and understand how companies operate profitably.
Real world experience
The course combines the academic study of a traditional degree with input from supporting businesses throughout the course, including networking events, guest lectures, work experience and industrial placement opportunities, and group projects based on real world problems. This gives you the opportunity to meet potential employers early in your course, providing a head start in the race for graduate jobs.
Where it can take you
A successful graduate can expect a starting salary of £26,000-£35,000 as a software developer or engineer, depending on the industry sector. Other potential roles include computer programmer, technical architect, graphical user interface designer, sales analyst, web or mobile app developer, games...
