About this course
Either 1. S/NVQ III or Advanced Craft in Plumbing, Heating & Ventilation or gas service. Or 2. ACS certificates in CCN1 AND CEN1 AND Unvented Hot Water qualification or evidence that you are undertaking study. Non skilled candidates, but have good knowledge such as architects, specifiers, etc, can attend, but will not be eligible for certificates or ID cards of competence.

What will I study?
Introduction to solar, design and choice of solar collectors, installation of collectors, hot water storage, design of system, layout of system, preparing to install system, control and power requirements, and system commissioning.
How will I learn?
Both in the classroom and workshop. We have the latest in new technologies in the classroom, as well as the most common rigs and demonstration systems in solar hot water to enhance your learning. Although theory takes place in the classroom, your use of the solar equipment is used to consolidate the course.
How will I be assessed?
A 1 hour multiple choice exam paper, and with exercises throughout the course.
Where could it lead?
Successful candidates will be able to use this qualification to be able to work on the vast majority of domestic solar hot water systems in the UK. You would also be able to apply as a registered installer under the Low Carbon Buildings Programme, allowing your clients to claim for installation grants.
