This course aims to prepare students to work as a freelance sound artist and/or part of the sound department in the film and games industries. It will also prepare you for a career in related industries such as radio, TV and theatre. This is a much in-demand discipline within the creative industries and has excellent job prospects.
Sound Design involves preparing all aspects of a soundtrack including dialogue, ambience, sound effects, Foley and music; synchronising them to the image; creating submixes; final mixing and mastering.
The course will give you practical experience and inside knowledge in terms of:
Industry workflows and procedures
Recording (in studios and on location)
Editing, mixing and mastering audio
Using sound libraries and creating your own
Creating sound and music for a range of media, in collaboration with students and experts from other disciplines (e.g. film, games, animation, radio, theatre)

Explore the creation of sound and music for film, TV, animation, games, theatre and radio, pre-production, location recording, production and post-production sound. Highly collaborative course: its focus on sound for film and television means that you will work closely with Film students and learn about the film and television industries. In your final year you will create sound and/or music with students from a discipline of your choice. Wide choice of option modules to broaden your skills and knowledge in areas such as electronics, composition, music production and performance.
