About this course
You need to have studied Spanish for about 40 weeks, or else have a good basic understanding of the language and want to brush it up. The class will build your confidence in speaking Spanish, teach you new vocabulary and the future and past tenses. We do grammar so any previous knowledge or a book about Spanish/English grammar could be very useful.

Course programme
This class is continuing from the spring term. You are welcome to join in at this point if you can already hold a simple conversation and feel confident ordering food etc. The course will help you to develop your knowledge and confidence in the company ofa native Spanish speaker.
What will the course cover and how will it be taught?
In the first term we will revise and build on the topics covered in last year's Beginner course (meeting and greeting, talking about yourself, coping in a restaurant/caf/bar, asking for directions, etc.). We will reinforce the present tense and Ser/Estar.
After Christmas we'll be ready to progress onto new grammar, past and future tenses, and new topics. The new topics we cover will reflect students' interests and be agreed by the group earlier in the term. We will also decide on whether we would like to choose a book to follow.
Your tutor will discuss the course content with the class and may make some adjustments to the syllabus based on the needs of the group. They will also try to accommodate individual requirements where it is practical to do so.
You will learn through lots of interaction in role-play and games, reading and writing, speaking and listening activities. Grammar will be explained and put into practise (oral, writing, or in exercises)
We will use Spanish as a means of communication in the classroom.
You will know how you are getting on:
- Through revision and re-inforcement
- By reflecting on what you have learned and filling in a record of your progress
- Through feedback from your tutor
- Through having your homework marked, either by the tutor, or in class
