Who is this for?
Those who have successfully completed a gcse course, or equivalent, with a grade Aor B.
Those who have successfully completed three years of evening classes and now wish to obtain a recognised qualification.
Those who may have lived/worked in a Spanish speaking environment but have no formal training or qualifications in the language. * Such students should contact the adult Ed office in order to arrange to speak to a language specialist about their particular situation.
Those who have had a gap in their studies, however long, but now wish to take them further.

What Will I Learn?
- To express and support opinions
- To challenge the opinions of others on topics prescribed by the Exam. Syllabus
- (Full details of the specification can be seen on the website of the Awarding Body. (AQA for AS French and Spanish and EDEXCEL for Italian)
- To respond appropriately to spoken languyage in a variety of contexts as
prescribed in the AQA Specification.
- To respond appropriately to written language in a variety of contexts as detailed in the AQA Specification
- To express yourself clearly and concisely in both written and spoken language
- Revise consolidate and extend grammar learned for GCSE.

Content of the Course
This course is for students who already have a good knowledge of the subject, with a GCSE grade A or B pass, or equivalent, as their starting point. Through a range of learning activities you will develop communication skills and competence in the Spanish Language. Topics covered will come under the broad headings of Media, Popular Culture, Healthy Living and Family Issues as set out in the AQA AS examination specification, which you may view online. Ideally, you should have access to a computer if you enrol on this course, as there are many additional listening, reading and writing tasks that are only available online.

Equipment Needed
Course book, dictionary, file or suitable notebook. Access to internet could be an advantage but is not essential.

Work needed to be Done outside of the Classroom
At least as much again as done in class. This might involve learning vocabulary or practicing a grammar point, reading in preparation for the next lesson or a writing task.

Assessment Details
Informal assessments will take place throughout the year on the various components of the exam. The final formal assessments will take place in May/June as directed by the Awarding Body. The speaking test is usually completed in advance of the other papers.

What Next?
A2 for those wishing to obtain a recognized qualification
A level 4/5 course for those who do not wish to take further external examinations.
