The Sport and Exercise Psychology BSc is offered by the School of Sport, Health and Exercise Sciences. If you are interested in the mental aspects of sport and exercise and sporting performance, you should enjoy this course. It is designed to provide a scientific understanding of the human mind, brain, behaviour, and experience, and of the complex interactions between these, as applied to competitive and recreational sport and exercise. The course also provides an understanding of the physiology of exercise and an appreciation of how the mind and the body interact to influence human performance.

About this course
The course aims to enable understudies to: Understand and be able to analyse data using descriptive statistics (e.g., mean and standard deviation)
Understand and be able to conduct statistical analyses for dealing with parametric and non parametric data (e.g., t tests, chi squares, simple regression, ANOVA)
Be able to explain the relevance of the assumptions that underpin the above statistical procedures
Be able to use SPSS for windows to conduct the above analyses and explain the statistical outputs produced by SPSS.
Be able to address, formulate, and answer basic research questions including relevant hypotheses
The BSc degree course is accredited by the British Psychological Society (BPS) to provide students with Graduate Basis for Chartered membership of the Society, the necessary first step in a career as a psychologist in the UK. It also provides excellent preparation for careers in sport science and the sport, fitness and health industries. Please note: if you wish to follow a British Psychological Society accredited programme of study to Masters Level, you will need to apply to the BSc degree and then follow an accredited MSc Sport and Exercise Psychology programme.
340 320 points on UCAS Tariff, from A/AS levels (with a minimum of 220 points at A2), Scottish Highers, Irish Leaving Certificate or BTEC National Diploma in a relevant subject. All subjects except A Level General Studies considered.
Pass at Grade C or above in GCSE English and Mathematics, or equivalent.
