Sport and Exercise Science A Level LocationCranford Avenue Course Overview Apply Now Students on an A-Level programme can also study a vocational A-Level in Sport and Exercise Science. The course specifically aims to develop knowledge and understanding of scientific principles through the study of sport, exercise and health. Students will develop a firm theoretical and practical grounding in sport and exercise science.

Course programme

Selection is by interview and you should have at least one of the following: • 5 GCSEs at minimum grade C including English Language, maths and science • BTEC First Diploma with a merit profile combined with 3 GCSEs at minimum grade C in English maths and science • Mature students will be assessed by interview • You should be interested in all aspects of sport and sport performance. Course Content The units of study include the following:- • Anatomy for Sport and Exercise, Sport and Exercise Physiology and Sport and Exercise Psychology (1 year option). • Above units plus Fitness Testing for Sport and Exercise, Practical Team Sport and Exercise, Health and Lifestyle (2 year option). Progression This course prepares you for employment or you can continue to the Level 4 Foundation degree (FdSc) Sport; Coaching, Health and Fitness in partnership with Plymouth University. Students who completed this course have gained places on courses such as BA (Hons) Football Coaching & Performance, BSc (Hons) Sport (Health & Fitness) and BA (Hons) Exercise & Sport Science at universities such as Exeter, Cardiff and Bath. Fees • If you are aged 16-18 as of 31 August on the year of enrolment – no course fee. • If you are over 19 as of 31 August and enrolling on a full-time programme of study a tuition fee will be applicable in most cases.
