About this course

You will have at least 4 GCSEs at grade C. At least THREE must be from : English Language or Literature/Humanities (History,Geography,RS,Sociology,Psychology)/Business/Science (Core and Additional OR triple)/Maths. Alternatively you will have a DISTINCTION in a Level 2 Diploma OR an NVQ2 OR a CACHE Cert.

Sport and Exercise Science National Diploma
The National Diploma is an exciting, varied, popular and practical two-year course that has enjoyed exceptionally high results over a number of years. The course is aimed at students wishing to pursue a career in the sports and/or fitness industry. It provides you with a broad base of understanding through a wide range of diverse and varied learning experiences, both theoretically and practically. This is ideal preparation for either the workplace or university. Equivalent to three A levels.

What does the course involve?
The course is based upon 18 units, studied for 15 hours per week, employing a number of varied assessment methods (reports, presentations, coaching episodes, posters etc). We aim to provide you with the knowledge and skills that will contribute towards a wide range of sports related careers (sports therapy, fitness instruction, sports development, physical education, sports coaching etc). The course is delivered by enthusiastic professionals with a great deal of relevant industrial experience. Learning experiences are supported by a range of methods such as trips, visiting speakers and using the latest research and sports related software and technology.

This course is suitable for anybody wishing to gain a recognised qualification who perhaps favours continuous ongoing assessment as an alternative to exams.
