You will spend around 10 hours a week in coaching with SWFCCP and Sheffield FC. This includes work on motion analysis, rehabilitation, strength and conditioning. You will also compete in fixtures on a weekly basis.

Additional Costs

You are expected to buy a training kit at a cost of approx. £150 and will be expected to contribute towards the cost of any trips and visits and to pay for your DBS check. You may be entitled to help with this from the college’s Learner Support Fund.

Course programme


This partnership programme unites a team of experienced education professionals at Doncaster College and Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme with elite coaches from Sheffield Wednesday and Sheffield FC. You will be supported to improve your performance levels with opportunities to potentially gain a professional playing contract.


WILL THE COURSE SUIT ME?


You should have a keen interest in sport and a high level of fitness, as well as being a talented football player. You will need to have good time management skills in order to manage training, coursework and assignment deadlines.




The BTEC Level 3 Diploma is made up of 12 study units. You will learn about anatomy and physiology in sport, fitness testing, training and programming, practical sport, safe and effective sport coaching, sport leadership, sports injuries, sports nutrition, sport psychology and tactical and technical sport skills.


You will study for English and math’s qualifications if you do not already hold a minimum GCSE grade C. Additional short courses may be available to enhance your employability such as FA Level 1 coaching award and FA youth module.
