SPORT BTEC FIRST CERTIFICATE
The Sport & Leisure Industry is a growing area with job opportunities existing in practical, specialist areas such as coaching and leading in the outdoors, as well as the commercial management and administration of facilities.
The Edexcel level 2 BTEC First Certificate in Sport is equivalent to two GCSE's and consists of one core unit PLUS two specialist units undertaken over a one year period. The course offers progression on to BTEC national programmes of study.
What and how will I be studying? CORE MODULE: The Body in Sport
This provides the learner with a fundamental understanding of the structure and function of the:

This gives learners the opportunity to investigate the many elements that make up this multi-million pound industry and includes:

Learners gain an insight into the essential preparation required for successful sports performance and includes:

This unit develops the learners knowledge, skills and understanding from a selection of outdoor activities, which may include, mountain biking

Assessment is continuous and is based on completion of set work and practicals. You will achieve a Pass, Merit or Distinction depending on the quality of your work. The work is assessed and moderated internally.
How will I work?
You will work on your own and with others. You will take responsibility for some aspect of the team work at times. At other times you will be developing your own ideas and work.
You will learn lots of new skills - working with sophisticated software when analysing yourself and others.
You will learn the importance of being organised and meeting deadlines.
You will also be encouraged to play recreation/competitive sport, which is offered by the college's Sport and Enrichment Programme.
