Overview ​The Sports Coaching course is aimed at developing your knowledge and understanding of sports coaching across a range of contexts. This course will equip you with the skills to work as an effective and conscientious coach with a focus on the underpinning principles of teaching practice and sport science and how this can inform coaching practice.

Other requirements: For the old GCSE system we require grade C or above and for the new GCSE grading system we will accept grade 4 or higher in both English Language and Maths.​​

Course Information There will be an opportunity to apply coaching skills throughout the course with practical placement opportunities available in the first and second year and the Professional Learning Through Work module in the third year. In addition to the professional work placements this programme also comes with the option to study abroad.  Many modules will employ practical workshops to provide a hands-on experience of a range of coaching practices using the University’s facilities, including the Sports Laboratory, the Strength and Conditioning Suite, the Sports Hall and Gymnasium, and the 3G Astroturf pitch. You will be encouraged and supported to complete nationally recognised coaching qualifications in a variety of sports. Although subsidised coaching courses are available in a range of sports, you will be required to contribute to the cost of additional coaching qualifications.
