Course programme

Sports Management- C&G Higher Professional Diploma
There are nine mandatory units plus three additional units chosen by you. Each unit is assessed by a final assignment marked by your tutor and moderated by City & Guilds.
This course is self-contained so you will be able to work through it without having to use extra textbooks. However, each unit gives details of a range of books, videos and web sites you may find helpful to supplement the material.

The nine mandatory units are;

  • Sport and recreation environment

  • Sport and society

  • Marketing

  • Management of health, safety and security

  • Facility management

  • Financial management

  • Human resource management

  • Quality management

  • Sports logistics and event management.

    The tenth unit is a choice between Design and technical operations or Sports development. The final two units are chosen from:


  • Customer care

  • Service development

  • Retail operations

  • Crowd safety and event control

  • Environmental and ethical issues of management.

    There are no formal examinations but each unit is assessed on line by a final tutor-marked assignment and moderated by City and Guilds.

    The course is self-contained so you will be able to work through it without having to use extra textbooks.

    Before you enrol on the course you should contact the ISRM to check your eligibility. If you already hold some relevant qualifications, they may grant you exemptions for certain units.
