Overview
The foundation degree in Sports Science provides you with the required practical, scientific and vocational knowledge to enable you to work as a competent practitioner in the sports and fitness industry, and associated employment areas. The programme concentrates on the understanding of the scientific concepts that underpin exercise and physical activity, and the methods by which they may be understood and analysed.

About this course

Entry requirements
You should have:
72 UCAS Points
GCSE grade C or above in English and mathematics
Desirable requirements are 240+ UCAS Points and GCSE grade C or above in Science
Mature students who don't have the UCAS point requirements, but have appropriate experience, specific knowledge or industry-based qualifications, are welcome to apply
It is advisable that students are computer literate prior to the start of the programme.

Extra information Assessment A combination of assignments, practical assessments, presentations and examinations. All assessment is graded as a percentage (between 0-100%). Students are required to achieve 40% in each module to pass the programme. A 50% grade point average is also required at level 5 (year 2) to automatically allow progression onto the year 3 top-up BSc Sports Science programme at the University of Greenwich. Careers Many students progress into year 3 of a BSc (Hons) Sports Science programme at the University of Greenwich, or into an alternative university. Students who need further support and development may enter year 2 of a BSc Sports Science degree. Students may also wish to progress into alternative qualifications such as sports therapy or teaching degrees. Career options include the fitness industry, where students may work as a personal trainer or fitness consultant. Students may also wish to work with sports teams or elite athletes, specialising in areas including strength and conditioning, sports coaching, sports psychology or sports nutrition. Some students also progress into teaching. Specialised equipment State-of-the-art sports facilities including a large sports hall, fitness testing room and a gymnasium.
