Overview
The foundation degree in Sports Science provides you with the required practical, scientific and vocational knowledge to enable you to work as a competent practitioner in the sports and fitness industry, and associated employment areas. The programme concentrates on the understanding of the scientific concepts that underpin exercise and physical activity, and the methods by which they may be understood and analysed.

Outcomes
The aims of the programme are:
To provide you with knowledge of anatomy, physiology, sports nutrition, biomechanics, psychology, scientific research, fitness, health and lifestyle
To enable you to develop practical skills in sports performance and exercise training and evaluation
To focus on the knowledge, skills and understanding required to support learning in a range of vocational settings
To enable you opportunities to work within the sports industry, applying the knowledge learnt within the programme, and demonstrating an ability to analyse and evaluate your work-based performance

Entry requirements
You should have:
72 UCAS Points
GCSE grade C or above in English and mathematics
Desirable requirements are 240+ UCAS Points and GCSE grade C or above in Science
Mature students who don't have the UCAS point requirements, but have appropriate experience, specific knowledge or industry-based qualifications, are welcome to apply
It is advisable that students are computer literate prior to the start of the programme.
