Sea Survival

Certification: STCW'95

Is this course mandatory? Yes. Required for all commercial fishermen. Also suitable for commercial boat operators and crew.

Anyone intending to work on a commercial fishing vessel of any size is required to hold the Sea Survival certification before undertaking work on board a vessel. There are no exemptions for this course either for the size of fishing boat or age of the person.

Fishermen are then required to complete MCA approved Fire Fighting and First Aid within 3 months of completing the Sea Survival course. Those who are new to the industry and taking these qualifications for the first time are also required to complete the mandatory Health and Safety Course. Those already commercially fishing must complete the Safety Awareness course instead.

Examination Type: Practical pool exercises must be completed.
