Description

This course is for anyone who wants to work in stonemasonry, conservation, restoration or construction. It will provide you with hands-on experience, broad knowledge and skills training, and enable you to progress and become qualified within the stonemasonry industry. You will be learning to prepare for setting out and produce architectural stone work, and study a number of units including the new element of conservation and restoration techniques for architectural heritage. The Bath College is leading the way in the stonemasonry qualifications by pioneering this course with the City and Guilds. We are holders of the prestigious Association of Colleges (AoC) Beacon Award for Practical Teaching and Practical Learning for its Living Classroom philosophy where students have undertaken skilled work under real conditions of stonemasonry and restoration work at Woodchester Mansion. The Stonemasonry lecturer Ray Sumner has been recognised by the Worshipful Company of Masons for his skills and dedication throughout more than 30 years of experience in stonemasonry with the Master Craftsman certificate.
