Course programme

From April 2011, anyone carrying out work on the highways will be required to be reassessed every 5 years for professional competence

These regulations introduce the requirement that supervisors and operatives must be reassessed every five years to confirm that they are still competent before they can re-register and continue to carry out street works.

Rowan Training are City & Guilds accredited and Street works reassessment certificates of achievement will enable qualifications to be re-registered.

A six month period before and after expiry of your Street works card exists to allow a period of grace.

After 6 month of expiry date shown on your Street works card, the qualification ceases to be registered. Full assessment (usually a 5 day course) as a new entrant will be required to register.

Starting the Street works examination

Candidates MUST bring their previous Streetwork card or a copy (both sides) AND ID (Driving licence or passport or CSCS/CPCS card and bank card)

We must validate the identity of the candidate with photographic identification.
We must validate the candidate holds a current Street works card.

The number of units you hold determines the amount of exams you can do in one day. Each unit has three versions of each test, if a version is failed, another version will be provided for a "re-test".
(Maximum three test attempts / three test versions per day. If failure of all three versions, the candidate will be required to attend a second reassessment day to reattempt the same tests again until pass is achieved.)
Only currently held units can be reassessed. If you wish to gain further units you will need to attend the Novice course on the days required.

· This is an open book reassessment, 5 reference books are supplied to each person to answer questions on the day

· An invigilator will be present throughout the exams to ensure compliance of the NRASW/C&G policies and to ensure no communications or information is received from an outside source, and to mark tests and give immediate feedback.

· An induction will take place to ensure all candidates are aware of how to use the books

· The pass mark for all reassessed tests is 80% (8 of the 10 questions correct) there are 10 questions for each street works units (Normally 7 units for operative or 7 units for supervisor, but it is dependent on what’s on the card, Unit 1 is mandatory for all).

· All relevant areas of the question paper must be completed by the candidate.

· Question papers are not for discussion with candidates.

· The time allocated for each question paper is 30 minutes.

· Each candidate can attempt a total of 3 different question papers per unit, once a paper is passed they will proceed to the next unit. If an individual unit is failed 3 times, they cannot renew that unit. If this failed unit is a mandatory unit requirement, they will be informed that no further units can be done.

· Street works qualifications can only be undertaken in the English language, there is no facility to use interpreters.
