Participants will learn how to approach written copy critically and reshape it into compelling editorial content that people will want to read. Focusing on practical exercises and using real-world examples, the course also focuses on the different approaches required for newspaper and magazine subbing, and explains the distinctive subbing methods demanded by print and online media.
Participants will need to have access to a computer and have Internet access throughout the course to help with homework assignments, downloading copies of course material and tutor support between classes.
Enrolment includes a personal login to the dedicated course website which provides downloads of handouts and homework assignments, links to online resources, tutor support between classes, and a web-based mini-publication for the online sub-editing project.

No prior experience required.
CPD Certificate
This is an industry led, practical, CPD approved certificated course that demonstrates that the delegate has invested in their learning and development, in key skills of sub editing and proofreading.
You will be contacted by a course advisor who will send you general information on the course and start dates and how to book your place. You will be encouraged to contact us back, in order that we can answer specific questions and provide you with the details you are looking for.
Our entry requirements reflect the needs of the industry. The publishing industry is generally graduate entry, although there are exceptions and people with relevant experience within a commercial environment are welcome. We will accept non-graduates with a minimum of two years commercial experience. If in any doubt, please do not hesitate to contact us by telephone or email. Graduates will have greater opportunities than non-graduates to secure a position, but experience and the training provided by LSP are also important in helping with employment prospects. For those who are non-graduates the courses can consolidate the training with commercial experience to enable a delegate to become more marketable.
Please contact the Course Co-ordinator if you have any questions relating to entry.
