This course is aimed at beginners through to semi-professionals and will enable direct progression into the industry or onto a higher level of study, such as our L3 Extended Diploma. The courses focuses on the recognition of achievement through practical musical, business and music technology skills.

Course programme
The course has two pathways - performance and technology - each with a set of core units:
- music sequencing and production,
- live sound recording
- podcasting production
- music marketing and promotion
Students on the Music Performance pathway study theses additional units:
- live music performance,
- musical rehearsal techniques,
- recorded music performance,
- auditioning for music instrumental study.
Students on the Music Technology pathway study these additional units:
- digital recording and production,
- remixing and production,
- using controller keyboard with a digital audio workstation,
- live sound recording, podcast production.
You will develop your skills in our Mac suites and learn how to use Reason 7. All students have access to our studios running Pro Tools, Reason 7 and Logic.
If you choose the Performance option, you will rehearse in our air-conditioned rehearsal studios, which are fully equipped with vocal PA and full back-line (Fender, Line 6 and Ampeg amps, Nord keys and Mapex drums).
Entry Requirements
- A minimum of four GCSEs grade D or above, including English language, and maths at grade E or above, or
- a level 1 qualification at pass or merit grade, English at level 1 and maths at entry level 3.
- Applicants with good instrumental skills or prior experience of music technology will also be considered.
