The programme explores the art of decorating cakes. Its aim to develop your creative skills that already maybe a hobby but could be the first steps of a satisfying career. Cake manufacture, production and decoration will be born out of your motifs and drawings. Working with Sugar paste or Royal icing will form the foundation of your cake on which to build the art deco and fantasy designs.

Who is the programme for? This programme is for adult students and is intended for all of those who are interested in cake decoration and have completed (or missed) the basic 6 week course - Sugar and Spice. The course builds on providing learners with an opportunity to develop their skills in finishing cakes for every occasion whether that is for Birthdays, Christmas, weddings or other special events. Using Royal and fondant icing, learning the intricacies of piping and creating a medley of fine intricate finishes not only will you glean tricks of the trade but the programme will also encourage you to develop your creative side

What will I study? The programme explores the art of decorating cakes. Its aim to develop your creative skills that already maybe a hobby but could be the first steps of a satisfying career. Cake manufacture, production and decoration will be born out of your motifs and drawings. Working with Sugar paste or Royal icing will form the foundation of your cake on which to build the art deco and fantasy designs. With the techniques and skills learned during the course such as letterting, piping and icing, the decorating of cakes will never be the same.

Entry to the Programme?

How is it assessed? There is no assessment, no qualification and no worry.

Future prospects? Those students who have enjoyed their 12 weeks with us, who are feeling a little more adventurous may opt for one of our other 6 or 12 week treats from the menu of short full cost courses.

How long will it take? 6 week course. Mon evenings 6pm-9pm, starting 16th March.
