An intensive, immersive course that will introduce you to the creative possibilities of game production. You will be taught by tutors with loads of experience in the theory and practice of games,and you will have the chance to work in our purpose-built games studios. By the end of the course you will have an understanding of the rules and logic of games and how these can be developed through programming into engaging games.

Course programme
Course Aims
- Develop your ideas through observation, research and physical prototyping
- Develop 3D modelling software and presentation skills appropriate to your project
- and create a basic physical game prototype
- Present your ideas and design development
Learning Outcomes
- An ability to research ideas that can be developed into games (Research, Analysis)
- Apply skills in communication, problem solving, critical evaluation and teamwork by creating and testing games (Technical Competence); (Experimentation); (Communication and Presentation)
- An ability to communicate ideas and concepts through 3D animation and physical prototypes (Communication and Presentation)
Schedule
Week One
- Monday: Welcome to LCC, tour of College and facilities. Lecture and workshop exploring the challenge of games, and rules of play.
- Tuesday: Game concept development - ideas generation
- Wednesday: Interactive design - the psychology of games, designing the experience of play.
- Thursday: Project research trip to a gallery or venue in London. Details to be confirmed.
- Friday: Game concept development - game design documents.
Week Two
- Monday: 3D Modelling, constructing and texturing game elements.
- Tuesday: 3D Modelling workshop, character design and build.
- Wednesday: 3D Materials lighting and rendering workshop.
- Thursday: Character animation workshop.
- Friday: 3D lighting and rendering workshop workshop. Export to Unity workshop.
Week Three
- Monday: Present progress report for individual project to be delivered at the end of the week.
- Tuesday: Group discussion practical game design theories.
- Wednesday: Physical prototype development.
- Thursday: Physical game testing and development.
- Friday: Presentation and crate of games, exhibition and graduation party.
