This is a nationally recognised work based qualification delivered in partnership with Speech and Language Therapist from South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust.
What modules are covered?This is a taught course which combines underpinning knowledge with work based assessment. The guided learning will cover:
Unit 300: Support speech, language and communication development
Understand the importance of speech, language and communication for overall development
Understand typical speech, language and communication development in children and young people
Identify typical speech, language and communication development of children and young people
Unit 301: Support children and young people's speech language and communication skills
Understand the importance and benefits of adults supporting speech, language and communication development
Understand how environments support speech, language and communication
Be able to recognise and obtain additional support for speech, language and communication needs
Unit 304: Understand the speech, language and communication needs of children and young people with behaviour, social and emotional difficulties
Understand links between language, behaviour, emotional and social development difficulties
Understand how to support positive speech, language and communication development for children and young people with behavioural, emotional and social difficulties
Understand how to adapt strategies and approaches to meet speech, language and communication needs of children and young people with social, emotional or behaviour difficulties
Know how to work with others to support communication development of children with behaviour, emotional and social development needs

How will I be assessed?Written tasks attached to units and work based assessment.
What is the entry process?Please note that you will need to be working in a suitable environment for the duration of the course. Proof of your work role will be required.

This Award has been designed for learners working as early years practitioners, for teaching assistants and support staff in a variety of child care settings, as well as learners working in health, social care, youth justice, youth work and support work settings.
