The University Diploma in Supporting Children’s Learning has been introduced in response to a group of employers who approached the University wishing to identify a qualification for its teaching assistants. In August 2012, the Government withdrew Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) status which enabled support assistants in educational settings to continue their professional development and gain a nationally recognised status. The University Diploma has been designed as a professional qualification for teaching assistants and consists of 60 credits at Level 4. The University Diploma programme is directly related to your work and can provide a career pathway through the full Foundation degree and the BA (Hon) Childhood Studies ‘top up’ programme to degree level and then on to Qual
