Entry requirements
You will need to be 16 and over and in full-time employment. You will already be working in a suitable role, or we can help you find one. If you are new to the industry or have limited experience you will need to start at Level 2.
For Level 2 you will normally require a minimum of 4 GCSEs at grade 3 (grade D) or above. For direct entry to Level 3, you will need a relevant Level 2 qualification and ideally English and maths at grade 4 (grade C) or above. However, all applicants will be considered on an individual basis.

Level 2 Certificate Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools
This qualification will enable learners to development the knowledge and skills needed when supporting teaching and learning in primary, secondary of special schools. It covers a wide range of areas including children and young people’s development, supporting those with disabilities or special educational needs and communication and professional relationships.

This qualification provides an in-depth understanding of the knowledge and skills required when working directly with children or young people in primary, secondary or special schools.
It covers all aspects of Specialist Support including planning, delivering and reviewing assessment strategies to support learning alongside the teacher; children with English as an additional language; and children with special needs. Personal development and reflective practice are also included.
