This course is for volunteers or existing teaching assistants in Primary, Secondary or Special schools who are working under the direction of the class teacher. They will contribute to planning, implementing and evaluating learning activities and will work alongside the teacher to support whole class activities, as well as working on their own with individuals or groups of pupils.

Course programme
Support staff will need to have sufficient language, literacy and numeracy skills at the level required to support pupils' learning. Relevant skills and attributes include:
You must provide a positive check through the Disclosure & Barring Service.
You will attend a weekly class at one of our campuses, and carry out some home study alongside your work in the classroom. You will need to be able to spend 1-2 hours per week building your portfolio. You will be offered regular tutorial support.
You will work towards nationally recognised units from the QCF (Qualifications and Credit Framework) to achieve the Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. Taught sessions will cover key aspects, including:
