Introduction
This exciting new Foundation Degree is for practitioners in Early Years who wish to extend their skills and knowledge to a higher level of competence to meet the high demands required in settings today.
The Foundation Degree is validated by Staffordshire University and is delivered by the College in partnership with the institution.
It is open to early year practitioners from all settings private or mainstream nurseries, schools up to the end of Key Stage One and special school settings.
The year three students graduate at Trentham Gardens each year along with other Staffordshire University students.

A relevant and current Level 3 childcare, early years qualification (eg DCE or NVQ 3)
Ideally applicants should have 2 years experience but this can be discussed with new employees
Working in an Early Years setting 0 to 8 either paid or voluntary (a letter of support will be required from the employer)
Duration
Three years part-time study four hours a week plus one hour allocated for tutorials
Modules will be taught in College with assignments at the end of each one, There is a timed exam in year 3
A good deal of learning will take place in the workplace using study guides and the experience of colleagues
A personal tutor will provide guidance and support, by email and telephone
One 4 hour session at College per week (4pm to 8pm)

Progression
The course, when completed, means that you can put the letters FdEY after your name and gives you 260 credits towards completing a full Honours Degree (in childhood studies).
Obviously your additional knowledge and skills may assist in obtaining promotion and higher pay.
Fees
The cost is £960 per year. At present help with the funding may be available from the local education authority.
