SVQ Health and Social Care Level 3
What is the purpose of the award?
SVQs are work-based qualifications which set levels of occupational competence. Experienced professionals in the Care Sector Consortium set the standards which describe what each employee must be able to do, how well, and in what circumstances, to show that they are competent at their work.
The standards are flexible to allow for differences of organisational approach.
Who is the award for?
Do you work in
- A residential home
- Hospital ward
- Day care centre
- Social work department
- Client's home
- Nursing home
- Group living home
How does it work?
You will be allocated an assessor who will meet with you on a regular basis to help you gather evidence to prove your competence.
Evidence can be obtained in different ways, and your assessor will help you find the best way to do this.
Why choose Jackson Mills Associates?
We will work closely with you and your company to help you to enjoy the process of your SVQ. You will learn new skills. Most candidates feel that their confidence is increased at the end of the programme, and that their job has become more rewarding.
We ask candidates to work in small groups, as a team, whenever possible. We ask you to think about your personal strengths and weaknesses. We help you highlight the contribution you can bring to the team and give you opportunities to improve your communication with others.
Why is this award useful?
It is essential to be qualified to a national standard if you have chosen a career in care.
This proves to you and your organisation that you can do your job well. It helps with promotion and progression to other qualifications.
Our clients - individual candidates and their organisations - have found that the SVQ award is an excellent individual development tool.
The programme is flexible enough to accommodate any changes or developments within the organisation.
How long will it take?
This will depend on how much time you have to spend on your SVQ. Most of the evidence for assessment can be collected during the normal working day.
Your assessor will come to see you on a regular basis, times and dates will be set by negotiation.
Most candidates complete this award in 9-12 months' time.
