About the course:
Manual massage has been practiced for thousands of years and benefits the client both physiologically and psychologically. The treatment manipulates the soft tissue of the body, producing heat and stimulating the vascular and nervous systems. Massage manipulation has either a relaxing or stimulating effect and creates a sense of well-being.

Course Content:
Learning will take place in a safe and effective manner providing underpinning knowledge of anatomy and physiology along with related theory to enable variations to be added with experience and workplace requirements, also providing a platform for further learning. The qualification is suitable for those employed in beauty therapy, health and fitness therapies, holistic therapies and those associated with a wide range of other stress relief treatments.

Equipment Requirements:
You will be required to wear suitable salon wear, which consists of a black tunic, trousers and black salon shoes. Please ensure that you collect the order forms for the above items from the Information & Guidance office, and order before the start of the course.

Assessment:
You will be assessed by assignments, written assessments, practical assessments, oral questioning and will be required to build a portfolio of your work.

Additional Information:
Part-time day or evening. You will also be required to provide models and work on the general public for your practical assignments. Additional units to be covered are: D1120 Support health, safety and security in the salon / Support employment standards.

Enrolment Instructions:
An interview will be required before enrolment on to this course. Late enrolments will not be accepted later than week three of the start date.
