    This is a flexible employment related programme that combines academic and work-based learning. It is equivalent to the first two years of a degree and has been designed specifically to equip you with practical and transferable skills required by employers. This qualification is designed to build on your level 3 achievement and will help you develop core competencies required by all workers in the integrated Children's Workforce.
  • Modules and Key areas covered
    You will cover: Personal & Collaborative Learning, Promoting Positive Relationships, Safeguarding Children, Assessment & Learning, Effective Learning Environments, Creativity & Learning, Children's Health & Well-being and Special Needs & Inclusion.
  • Who is suited to the course?
    You will: work or would like to work as an assistant in primary or secondary schools, have (or are working towards) a level 3 qualification and be interested in working towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • How is the course assessed?
    You will be assessed by a variety of methods these may include the following: Written assignments and reports, Group presentations, Formative assessments and Peer assessment / feedback.
  • Work based learning?
    In addition to taught sessions, work-based learning forms a key part of this programme. Therefore, it is essential that you are either working or volunteering in a supportive school-based setting.
  • What equipment or resources might I need?
    No specific equipment is needed apart from general stationery.
  • Progression routes after course
    You can progress to teacher training or a full BA (Hons) Degree at university. To enter teacher training you will need GCSE grade C or equivalent in Maths, Science and English.
