What is this course about? The course aims to provide new teachers of ESOL with the teaching skills for working with adults up to L1 ESOL . The course includeslectures and workshops, supervised teaching practice, observations of experienced teachers and four written assignments). ,

Who is this course for? For people who want an internationally recognised qualification for teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages).

What do I need to get on the course? You need to have the equivalent of at least L2 Literacy skills and a near native speaker level of spoken English. Aptitude for teaching is also assessed at the interview stage. It helps to have had some experience of learning a foreign language.
You must:
,be at least 20 years old at the start of the course
have a standard of education which would allow entry to Higher Education in your own country.,

What will I study? The course focuses on teaching and learning strategies for ESOL and is mainly practically based. You will need to allow extra time for independent study and preparation outside the taught couse.

What qualification will I get? An internationally recognised qualification for teaching EFL (English as a Foreign Language) and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages)., ie. the Cambridge Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults (CELTA).

What can I do after the course? Once you have the CELTA and have some experience of teaching ESOL, you can be considered for progression to the Certificate in Further Education Teaching Stage 3 TESOL and the Certificate for ESOL Subject Specialists.

How much does the course cost? Concessionary students pay a £40 annual registration charge which covers any courses where concessions are available.
