Course programme
The MA/MTeach TESOL is a new postgraduate programme in the Teaching of English to Speakers of Other Languages.
It is one of the few Master's in TESOL programmes in the UK which incorporates a teaching practice component and is designed for both experienced teachers and those with little or no previous teaching experience.
Teachers who have the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations DELTA (Diploma in English Language Teaching to Adults) or the Trinity College Licentiate Diploma in TESOL are exempt from the whole of the first semester of the programme.
Course Structure and Content
The MA/MTeach TESOL runs over three semesters. Students who complete the first semester only can gain a Postgraduate Certificate in TESOL (60 credits exit). Students who complete the programme after the second semester can gain a Postgraduate Diploma in TESOL (120 credits exit). Students who complete their dissertation in the third semester will gain an MA/MTeach TESOL (180 credits).
Teaching Methods and Assessment
Assessment for the three compulsory TESOL modules is entirely by coursework. Teaching is in workshops and seminar groups.
