Course programme
Course review:
The DTLLS course is a 16-month programme comprising face-to-face training days, optional assignment workshops, 1:1 tutorials, workplace assessment, individual research, distance learning and the completion of 8 assignments.
During the first 13 months you will attend 12 training days. These are highly interactive, face-to-face sessions. They are built around key themes that address the course content, prompt reflective practice and provide an opportunity to share good practice with others.
In addition to the training days there are optional workshops to support assignments. Individual tutorial support and distance learning is built into the programme.
The course is assessed by 8 unit assignments, an ongoing reflective journal and a teaching practice portfolio. You will have to evidence 150 hours of teaching and will be observed 8 times. Assignments must be submitted within the 3 months following the last training day.
This course builds on the Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS / 7303). To join the course you must have PTLLS or its equivalent, or undertake one concurrently.
Please refer to the course programme for an overview of the course content and the way the course is structured. The Initial Teacher Training overview diagram shows how DTLLS relates to PTLLS and CTLLS.
