What is this course about? This is a two year course run in collaboration with the Institute of Education and integrates the specialist knowledge required to teach Literacy into the first year of the practical teacher training course.
Who is this course for? This course is for people who wish to teach Literacy to adults in a range of contexts , both vocational and for academic purposes.
What do I need to get on the course? Your own Literacy Skills should be at Level 2 at least. You need to allow at least 2.5 days er week to cope with the course workload.
What will I study? The course enables you to teach and assess competently at L4 or 5 and includes study of the theory of teaching and training as well as giving you the opportunity to select an optional topic for individual research and study towards the end of the course. To support the Literacy content, you will be offered a placement in a class so that you can obtain teaching experience throughout the year and you wil also have the chance to work in a training class at the start of the year.
What qualification will I get? Year 1 of the PCGE in Literacy in the Liifelong Learning sector, accredited by the Institute of Education.

How much does the course cost? Fee for September 2007 to be confirmed. This is a full cost course, with no government funding and no concessions.
