What's it all about?:
If you've ever spent any time mastering a language you'll appreciate that it takes time and patience, but most of all, it takes an inspiring and enthusiastic teacher to teach it. If the idea of helping students to progress and communicate both here in the UK, and abroad really appeals then our course will too. We will train you so you can plan, teach and evaluate your students as they learn English, so that when you leave, you can feel competent and assured to cope confidently in your new role.

This course aims to provide initial training for those who wish to teach English to Speakers of Other Languages. The focus of the course is on developing language awareness and on the planning, teaching and evaluation of a series of English to Speakers of Other Languages classes.

Progression:
You can progress to an additional modules both subject specialist and generic, encouraging you to achieve qualified teacher award and QTLS.

Entry Requirements:
In our experience in order to be successful on this level of course you will need one of the following:
• 60-80 UCAS tariff points - any combination
• a BTEC national award in a related subject
• an NVQ Level 3 in a related subject
• equivalent qualifications or relevant work experience.
Previous language learning experience is desirable. Interviews take place in June - early application is advisable.

Duration: Academic year

When can I study?:
Tuesdays, 5.00pm - 8.30pm (plus some additional time during the day)

Are there any exams?:
Assessment is based on six teaching practices, two in-class tests, two internally and one externally marked assignments.
