This qualification is intended for those who have a responsibility for the work of others as they lead a team. It is suitable for individuals who are entering management, or who have the ability and the opportunity to demonstrate recognisable management and leadership skills, for example, providing leadership for their team, encouraging, allocating and checking work.

To achieve a full award, individuals must complete 6 units, including 4 mandatory and 2 optional. Individuals can choose the optional units which best suit their work situation and job role.

This qualification is competence-based which means that it is linked to a person†s ability to competently perform a range of tasks connected with their work. An assessor will be assigned to observe and assess candidates in the workplace.
Individuals plan a programme of development and assessment with their assessor and compile a portfolio of evidence to prove that they are competent and knowledgeable in their work role.
