Who is the course for?
The course is for people who have an interest in make-up for television, film, special effects, fashion or theatre.
What is the course about?
The course has been designed to develop students understanding and practical make up skills required to succeed in industry.
Course content includes makeup techniques for:
Fashion, catwalk, photographic, male grooming, corrective make up, airbrushing, casualty special effects, theatre character development.
Incorporates hairdressing (long hair work, cutting, historical), television studio etiquette, history of makeup and hair.
Will I need anything else?
You will need a black polo shirt (college issue - to be purchased at induction), black trousers, black flat shoes (to complete a professional dress code).
A make-up artist kit is required, and a camera needs to be available for photographic evidence. You will need a file for your portfolio.
How long & often do I attend?
This is a substantial programme requiring attendance at several sessions throughout the week for 1 year. An 90% attendance is required for successful completion of the course.
How will I be assessed?
Continual assessments are carried out throughout the course. After each module, you will be tested through written questions. Certain modules will be externally tested.
What opportunities will this lead to?
You may wish to consider a higher level course i.e. advanced prosthetics/special effects makeup. Or you may choose to work within the industry on films, TV, theatre or in photographic studios.
