This programme of study aims to offer substantial study of key theological themes at an advanced level. On completion of studies each student on the programme is expected to have: Developed a specialised understanding of a theological area chosen under the guidance of a supervisor Demonstrated evidence of wide and independent reading Developed research skills through engaging in an extended supervised dissertation On completion of studies each student on the Graduate Diploma programme is expected to have: Demonstrated evidence of wide and independent reading in Theology Developed a knowledge and understanding of some of the theoretical and practical approaches in Theology Developed skills in critical analysis with particular reference to Theology A broad foundation in theological study Why Queen's?Supervision is provided in the recognised Theological Colleges.

Course Details
MTh For the MTh, the programme content is determined by the supervisor (appointed by the Institute) in consultation with the student and is approved by the Institute of Theology.
Graduate Diploma The Graduate Diploma programme aims to provide a conversion course for students who are graduates in a discipline other than Theology which may enable them, if they perform sufficiently well, to proceed to a taught postgraduate degree programme in Theology. In addition, the Diploma is a free-standing qualification which will allow applicants the opportunity to study Theology out of interest or personal choice.
Assessment & FeedbackMTh: assessment is 100 per cent coursework based. The dissertation will be approximately 20,000 words. The pass mark for each module is 50 per cent.
PG Diploma: assessment will normally be by 100 per cent coursework. The pass mark for each module is 50 per cent. Diploma students do not submit a dissertation.
Graduate Diploma: students will be required, in consultation with an Academic Adviser, to take six modules from the list available and with formal approval given by the Director of the Institute of Theology. Students who are awarded the Graduate Diploma in Theology with a pass mark of 60 per cent in at least five of the six modules are eligible for admission to the appropriate taught postgraduate programme in Theology.
