Course Overview
This Introductory workshop is suitable for anyone interested in alternative therapies to improve health and well being, for students working towards Beauty/Holistic Therapies or for experienced Beauty/Holistic Therapists as an additional treatment to offer to their clients.

The programme is delivered over 1 day. All practical work will be carried out in the college's treatment room.

Course Structure
The introductory course is carried out over four hours and consists of:

  • Health & Safety (Brief overview)
  • Hygiene (Brief overview)
  • Consultation (Brief overview)
  • History & development of Thermo-Auricular Therapy
  • The action of the therapy
  • The contra-indications to the treatment (Reasons why the treatment should/could not be carried out)
  • The anatomy of the: Ear, Nose & Lymphatic System (Brief overview)
  • Practical application


Qualification Aims
You will obtain a college course certificate on completion.

For the beginner there are no career opportunities at this stage, the course is designed for general interest only. However, should you wish to progress onto the recognised vocational qualification, see below, then there are career opportunities available.

For students working towards or the qualified Beauty/Holistic Therapist then this course can be included in your C.V. see progression.

Successful candidates will be able to progress onto the Recognised Vocational Qualification VTCT Thermal Auricular Therapy. This course will enhance your employment prospects within the industry or enable you to increase your clientele by including an additional treatment.

Assessments/Examinations
All students are required to carryout a practical assessment at the end of the session. The practical assessment is assessed by the Lecturer/Assessor for competency.

There is a multiple-choice question paper at the end of the session.

Cost / Equipment
Fees -£75.00
Candles -£5.00

This is a self-financing workshop and as such there is no fee remission available. The full fees are to be paid in full and are required to reserve your place prior to start of the start date.

You will require a minimum of one pack of Ear Candles to enable the assessment to be carried out, payment for these are required at time of booking. Additional ear candles can be purchased on the day.
