Course review:
A one day "taster" course in Tiffany style stained glass, in which the edges of the glass pieces are wrapped in copper foil and then soldered together.
This process was developed by Louis Comfort Tiffany towards the end of the 19th Century. He used it to create stained glass designs which were far more delicate and intricate, and more 3-dimensional, than traditional leaded work.
It is a very versatile technique which can be used to make lampshades (for which Tiffany is famous) and also terrariums, light-catchers, mirror-surrounds, boxes, clocks - in fact the list of beautiful stained glass projects you can create with copper foil is practically endless.
On this course you will be able to make a simple design to take home.
On the day you will be taken through all the stages involved in copper foil stained glass - marking out the pattern, cutting the glass, foiling and assembling the pieces etc.
The course fee covers all the tools and materials used, a light lunch and unlimited tea & coffee!
Course dates given are for Saturdays and Sundays and the following Thursdays and Fridays.
We also offer courses in traditional leaded stained glass, on the same days, so you could combine the two techniques over any of the two-day periods. If the courses are full it is best if we can concentrate on one technique on any particular day, which may affect availability.
We also offer courses in Glass Fusing and Bead-making (Lamp-work) - please see our other listings or visit our website for details. We try to be flexible over dates, so please contact us to check availability or if you wish to come on a different date.
