We don't offer any direct funding but If students are looking for funding then this would usuaully be externally sourced. There is not a great deal of funding available to distance learning students although we occasionally receive applications through the Department for Work and Pensions. If ...

Course programme

The Travel & Tourism course consists of the following Units:

Unit One - The Travel and Tourism Industry

This Unit contains the following topics: Understand and explain the structure of the international travel and tourism industry; Investigate the social, cultural, economic and environmental impact of travel and tourism; Identify the role of national government in forming tourism policy and promotion; and Investigate the patterns of demand for international travel and tourism.

Unit Two – Features of worldwide destinations

This Unit contains the following topics: Demonstrate knowledge of the main global features; Demonstrate awareness of different time zones and climate; Investigate travel and tourism destinations; and Identify and describe the features which attract tourists to a particular destination.

Unit Three – Customer care and working procedures

This Unit contains the following topics: Deal with customers and colleagues; Identify the essential personal skills required when working in the travel and tourism industry; Follow basic procedures when handling enquiries, making reservations and receiving money; Use reference sources to obtain information; and Explore the presentation and promotion of tourist facilities.

Unit Four – Travel and tourism products and services

This Unit contains the following topics: Identify and describe tourism products; Explore the roles of tour operators and travel agents; Describe support facilities for travel and tourism; and Explore the features of worldwide transport in relation to major international routes.

Unit Five – The Role and Function of Marketing and Promotion In Travel and Tourism

This Unit contains the following topics: Role and Function of Marketing and Promotion;

Marketing and Promoting, Products, Services and Experiences; Product as part of the marketing mix; Price as part of the marketing mix; Place as part of the marketing mix; and Promotion as part of the marketing mix.
