Training Method

Practical training with knowledge delivered through course notes.

Course Duration:

• 5 Days - Novice Operators with Loader option
• 4 Days - Novice Operators tractor only
• 3 Days - Semi Experienced Operators with Loader option
• 2 Days - Experienced Operators with Loader Option
• 1 Day - Correct bad habits and Assessment Content.

Course Content:

• Legal and statutory legislation related to agricultural tractors
• Pre-start checks and routine maintenance
• Recognise instrument readings and operate all the controls
• Inspect vehicle and comment on serviceability
• Operate the machine with:
  • Heavily loaded trailers
  • Mounted implements
  • Up Down and across slopes
  • Handle on rough terrain
  • Hitch to a trailer and three point linkage
  • Safe attachment and use of P.T.O.
• Trailer reversing
• Optional Loader Operation:
  • Load and unload safely with a loader
  • Manoeuvre in a confined space
  • Operate at different working heights.

Progression to: Forklift Truck, Machine Maintenance, CPCS
