Course Content

On completion of VA-1 course you, will be able to:

  • Define IATA geographic areas and Global Routing Indicators.
  • Interpret various airline codings.
  • Determine country information including passport, health and visa requirements.
  • Identify differing fare types and their characteristics.
  • Select the lowest applicable fare for point to point itineraries with reference to fare rules.
  • Calculate fares applying the fundamental principles of the mileage system.
  • Issue single and conjunction tickets manually for normal and special fares to IATA standards.
  • Complete MPDs/MCOs for airport ticket issue.
  • Construct fares using NUCs and the IATA Rate of Exchange for a range of currencies

On completion of VA-2 course you should be able to:

  • Construct fares for multi-sector journeys, applying the mileage system, higher intermediate fares and minimum fare checks.
  • Apply add-ons to construct unpublished fares.
  • Determine fares for itineraries with more than one breakpoint.
  • Calculate fares for itineraries with surface sectors and side trips.
  • Assess fares for journeys of differing classes.
  • Interpret special fares and apply to multi-sector itineraries and open jaw constructions.
  • Complete automated and manual fare calculation area details.
  • Issue conjunction tickets manually to IATA standards.
  • Establish fares for children, infants and other rebate categories.
  • Source information on the procedures for revalidations, endorsements, reissues and refunds.

Computerised Reservation System

  • Encoding and Decoding (cities, airlines and aircraft)
  • Flight availability
  • Flight Reservations
  • Selling air segments
  • Retrieving and amending bookings
  • Fare displays (Normal and Special IATA fares for adults, infants and children)
  • Special requests (seat, meal, wheelchair access)
  • Queues
  • Hotel and car hire bookings
  • Other travel related information such as Visa, Health, Customs and Climate etc.

Computerised Reservation System

An integral part of the course is the time you will spend at a fully functional travel agency. LSM has now arranged to work with reputed travel agents in the London area. Your progress on the course will be continuously monitored throughout the placement.

Mode of Study

Courses are conducted part-time during the week and at week-ends.

Course Commencement & Duration

Courses commence every September, January, April & July. Course can be completed in 12 weeks.
