Entry Requirements
Existing skills or experience in arts & crafts are important as this is not a course for complete beginners. The expectation is that students will have basic Level 2 or Level 3 qualifications such as GCSE and/ or A Level; BTEC National Diploma in Art & Design or equivalent; Level 3 Foundation Diploma in Art & Design; professional or substantial experience in arts & crafts for the full Foundation Degree programme.

Suitable For
This one year part-time course is designed for those wishing to develop or learn new skills and can be taken as a stand alone qualification. It would suit anyone needing or wanting to use art and crafts materials and techniques as part of their work, such as Teaching Assistants and Teachers in primary and secondary education, after-school club leaders or youth workers. The programme would also be appropriate for anyone with existing skills and experience in art and crafts who have aspirations to become designer makers, work in small craft businesses or who would like a taster of studying at this level without committing themselves to the whole Foundation Degree.
Course Content

We offer specialist workshops in metal, ceramics, textiles, printmaking, wood/ plastics, plaster, CAD and warm glass in our well equipped Arts Centre being taught by a team of highly experienced designer makers. In addition learners will have access to drawing and photographic studios.

Method of Assessment

The UCPD is one module and is worth 60 credits. Assessment is done through practical tasks, with some theoretical elements, and are mapped against set criteria.
Progression

On successful completion of the UCPD students will have the opportunity to progress onto the Foundation Degree at Grantham College.
