Understanding & Managing Dyslexia - a distance learning course by BSY Dyslexia stems from the Greek words "difficulty" and "words." Dyslexia can affect reading, writing, spelling and any other mode of language communication. It is often mistaken as simply a reading problem when, in fact, dyslexia is a three-fold issue with the person having difficulty with organising and memory as well as word-finding. Though dyslexia causes difficulties in learning, many sufferers have a IQ and try to compensate for dyslexia in other areas.  This course explores the cognitive and behavioural problems faced by a person coping with dyslexia along with his or her family, carers and teacher.  Early and accurate assessment is critical, and you will learn that the assessment process is dynamic and demands more than basic testing.  This course is highly suitable for teachers, parents and carers of those who have been diagnosed with dyslexia and those who are showing possible symptoms. Delivering a rich source of information, this course offers practical suggestions for management of this very complicated disorder.
