Course programme

It is a legal requirement to protect both workers and members of the public from the risks of being exposed to electromagnetic fields (EMF). Owners of infrastructure, manufacturers of equipment that generates radio frequency energy and employers of workers using such equipment need to be fully aware of their legal obligations. The Physical Agents (PAD) EMF Directive 2013/35/EU is due to be accepted into the legal framework by 1 July 2016. It will be implemented to improve the working environment in order to protect the health and safety of workers. The Directive provides a legal requirement for owners of infrastructure and employers to demonstrate compliance. This requirement could also extend to constructors and designers of infrastructure where the building developers wish to ensure that there are no restrictions on usage or where compliance with the Physical Agents Directive becomes part of the design brief. Provisions are also introduced on risk assessment, control of exposure, health surveillance and information, instruction and training. At the end of this half day course, delegates will have a good understanding of the scope of the forthcoming regulations, their responsibilities, the types of assessments that can be performed to assess levels of risk and how to update their companies’ procedures in line with the new legislation.
