Wheelchair Training
Wheelchairs remain an important part of the lives of those who use them on a regular basis and it is therefore imperative that those who assist with them fully understand the implications of incorrect usage.
Many healthcare professionals who re-visit wheelchair users after delivery report findings such as 'footplates not attached to the wheelchair, armrests positioned too high' and even 'seat cushions fitted upside down'. And while these reports appear to be relatively insignificant to most of us if you are a wheelchair user, this can result in significant deterioration in health and safety.
Carers have one of the most important roles to play in the comfort and safety of wheelchair users and as such, require a general knowledge and understanding of how to correctly use the equipment that has been identified to offer benefits to the user. Once this knowledge has been gained, care staff have more confidence in raising any issues they may feel do not follow the recommended guidelines for usage. Thereby improving communication between care home managers, relatives and healthcare professionals to quickly resolve the highlighted issues.
Therefore, in an effort to improve the competency of care staff, Cotswold Mobility have introduced the 'Understanding Wheelchairs' training course.
Our knowledge and experience spans 10 years within the mobility field and we have been involved in areas such as, Product Testing, Wheelchair Standards, Manufacturing of Equipment including Supporting Documentation, Wheelchair maintenance, Provision/Assessment/Training & Demonstrations of Products.
